Dynamic Gameplay

Experience deterministic, tactical card combat. Every move matters.

Deployment

Deployment

Strategic setup is key. Position your cards across 4 columns and 2 ranks to form an impenetrable line.

Tactical Attacks

Tactical Attacks

Strike from your front rank. Watch damage cascade through columns and overcome your opponent's defense.

Dynamic Reinforcement

Dynamic Reinforcement

Rebuild your formation mid-battle. Deploy new cards to your back row as the front line shifts.

From Curious to Master

Your journey in Phalanx Duel has a clear path. Start simple, practice solo, then compete for rank.

  • Curious (0 → 1): Watch a match or play the Solo Bot (Easy). No pressure, just learn the flow.
  • Player (1 → 10): Play the Solo Bot (Medium) to test your defense. Then challenge a friend.
  • Master (10 → ∞): Compete in ranked play. Study suit boundaries. Use the Battle Calculator to find lethal lines others miss.

Simplified Rules

Phalanx Duel is a game of positioning and timing. Master these core concepts to win.

  • Columns: Cards are arranged in 4 columns. Attacks hit the front card first, then the back, then you.
  • Phases: Each turn has 7 fixed phases. You deploy in Reinforcement and strike in the Attack phase.
  • Suits: ♦ Diamonds and ♥ Hearts defend; ♣ Clubs and ♠ Spades boost your attack power.
  • Victory: Reduce your opponent to 0 LP or destroy their entire formation to win.

How a turn works

Players take turns. The game and each turn have phases, and the current phase determines whether you deploy cards or attack.

  1. Start and set the duelCreate or join a match in the browser. The current alpha lobby lets you choose Damage Mode and Starting LP, while the canonical Classic defaults are documented in Rules v1.0.
  2. Set up the battlefieldIn canonical Classic setup, each player draws 12 cards and alternates deployment until all 8 slots are filled (4 columns x 2 ranks) with 4 cards left in hand.
  3. Take turns through 7 phasesEach turn follows the same deterministic lifecycle: Start Turn, Attack Phase, Attack Resolution, Cleanup, Reinforcement, Draw, End Turn.
  4. Attack from the front rankOn attack phases, the active player attacks from a front-rank card in one column into a chosen defending column.
  5. Damage cascades through columnsDamage moves through a defending column and can carry into LP based on the board state and card effects.
  6. Push to victoryKeep attacking and deploying through the turn and game phases until an opponent reaches 0 LP or every card they have is destroyed.
