Do I need a custom deck to play?

No. Phalanx: Duel is designed around standard suited playing cards.

How many decks are needed?

Ideal setup is one deck per player. Any standard suited deck can be used when learning or testing.

Are Jokers required?

No. Jokers are excluded from v1 rules. Optional Joker expansion concepts are deferred for later exploration.

How many players?

The current core game is head-to-head (two players).

Is there a digital version?

Yes. You can play the current alpha at play.phalanxduel.com.

What phase is the project in?

Pre-alpha active development. The game is playable, but reliability and UX are still being hardened.

Reconnect behavior is still being completed. See Status for current details.

Where are the authoritative rules and technical contracts?

Canonical docs live in the main repo: RULES.md, PROTOCOL.md, and CLIENT_CONTRACT.md.
