Phalanx is an open tactical card system built around formation combat, deterministic resolution, and cross-format design. Phalanx Duel is the canonical competitive format.

The Phalanx core tactical system provides the fundamental mechanics for formation-based combat. It includes:

• Battlefield Grids: Organizing forces into tactical columns.
• Boundary Suit Semantics: Suit effects that trigger at Card -> Card and Card -> Player boundaries.
• Carryover Damage: Strategic damage cascading through a target chain.
• Strategic Deployment: Alternating placement to build a winning formation.
• Deterministic Resolution: Identical inputs produce identical outcomes under the same rules version.

Official Game Formats

The Phalanx system is deployed through specialized formats, each tailored for different play styles.

Phalanx: Duel

Phalanx: Duel is the beating heart of the Phalanx ecosystem. It is the head-to-head competitive format and the canonical basis for Official Phalanx Ranked play.

• Structure: Two-player tactical column battle.
• Canonical Rules: Deterministic v1.0 specification with 7-phase turns and replay-verifiable outcomes.
• Classic Defaults: 4 columns x 2 ranks, hand size 4, initial draw 12.
• Official Ranked: Phalanx: Duel is the only format certified for Official Phalanx Ranked systems.

Phalanx: Arena

Phalanx: Arena is a multiplayer expansion of the system, supporting more than two participants in free-for-all or team-based tactical combat.

Phalanx: Siege

Phalanx: Siege is a scenario-driven format where players take on specialized tactical challenges, either cooperatively or competitively, within predefined game states and mission objectives.
